A few years ago, rummaging through books on a stall at an antiques market, we accidentally discovered some old volumes by a contemporary painter unknown to us: Fabio Aguzzi.
Leafing through his catalogues*, among the works classified as still lifes, we found some with asparagus as their subject. Among the canvases, entitled ‘Upside Down’ and, indeed, ‘Asparagus’, the one reproduced here is surprising, with a certain lyricism associated with it. The elegance of the light, colours and shapes is authentic poetry…
It is curious that asparagus can be seen in this way!
